About the Market:
Catskill Mountainkeeper Farmers' Market aims to promote local, sustainable agriculture, increased consumer awareness and access to healthy foods, while enhancing the value of our communities and economic opportunities for farmers, small businesses and artisans. The 2024 Liberty Farmers Market is an open air market offering fresh, local produce, meat, dairy and prepared foods.
The Liberty Farmers Markets is approved for the Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP), the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Vegetables and Fruit Program and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formally EBT) benefits.
These initiatives provide eligible recipients with vouchers that can be used for the purchase of fresh, nutritious, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs from approved farmers' markets around New York. The purpose of these programs is both to increase the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables among low income, disadvantaged residents, including seniors and women, infants and children, as well as to increase awareness within the recipient community about the availability and benefits of fresh, local food.
