TrailKeeper Network

The mission of Catskill Mountainkeeper’s Trailkeeper Network® is to attract greater use of our region’s special and numerous trails and make people aware of the many wonderful facilities and amenities that are available for their use. We want to both grow the sense of stewardship of our spectacular landscape and bring in tourist dollars that will provide our region with four-season, sustainable economic growth. We are achieving this by promoting and expanding existing trails; connecting people to area food, lodging, and attractions near trailheads; and encouraging year-round, health-promoting outdoor activities like hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing.

In 2012 we launched®, the first initiative of Trailkeeper Network®, in partnership with the Delaware Highlands Conservancy, the Sullivan County Division of Planning and Environmental Management, the Sullivan County Visitors Association, Cornell Cooperative Extension and Morgan Outdoors, with assistance from the Upper Delaware Council, Sullivan Renaissance, the New York New Jersey Trail Conference, the National Park Service, Sullivan County Community College Hiking Class, and many volunteers.® is an online resource for trails and nearby amenities in Sullivan County.  This site was launched in October 2012 and has been set-up as a model to be adapted to other Catskill counties over time.  Catskill Mountainkeeper is partnering with local entities to create the next trailkeeper sites in Ulster and Delaware counties.

In addition to providing online resources, the Trailkeeper Network® offers educational guided hikes for all ages and skill-levels with experts on history, foraging, and GPS mapping, among others, and works with regional partners to advocate for projects that will grow our trail system.
