Catskill Stewards

Informed and low-impact visitorship to the Catskill Park is critical to the health and sustainability of our natural environment. Thanks to a grant supported by Senator Hinchey and in partnership with the Catskill Center and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, in 2025 we welcomed four seasonal stewards to the team. Each year, Catskill Mountainkeeper Stewards engage with visitors on how to responsibly enjoy the Park and respect our natural world. They teach visitors how to reduce their impact, including sharing the Leave No Trace principles, and providing wilderness first aid to injured or sick individuals. Our stewards are out on the trails every year, May through October, greeting visitors at some of the most beautiful spots in our region. If you see them on the trails, say hi!
