A federal agency has just rubber-stamped an outrageous proposal to expand a 200-mile long pipeline that will carry fracked gas through the heart of New York State. 

Please sign our petition  demanding that FERC – the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission --  go back and do a real Environmental Impact Statement that exposes the far-reaching risks to our communities, our environment and our climate.

The “New Market” pipeline, owned by Dominion Transmission, Inc. would carry such dramatically increased quantities of fracked gas from Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia that it will require two new and one enlarged noisy, above-ground compressor stations to keep the gas pressurized.

These stations spew dangerous pollutants linked to a multitude of health problems, including cancer, diabetes and infertility.

Just as bad, the compressors will pump more than 200,000 tons of climate-destroying gases and hazardous pollutants into the atmosphere each year.  And communities living along this 50-year old aging pipeline network will be threatened by higher risks of pipeline leakage and rupture.  

Don’t let New York get FERC’ed. It’s time to fight back!

FERC may think it can rubberstamp this reckless project and that Mountainkeeper and a coalition of citizens organizations will simply fold and walk away but they’re dead wrong.
