Staffing of the CIC depends on volunteers. Can you spend some time sharing your love and knowledge of the Catskills?

The Catskills are about to realize a thirty year dream come true with the upcoming opening of the Center.  Come and see what it is all about, and volunteer to share your expertise with new visitors to our area.

The CIC is a partnership of the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and a number of Catskill organizations. As a public-private project, the state is building and maintaining the facility, but staffing and services are the responsibility of the partner organizations.

The CMC, along with its partners, is now seeking individuals to help staff the facility. The Center will be open to the public seven days a week, from 9:30 AM until 4:30 PM.  We are looking for people who love the Catskills to volunteer some time each month to help serve our visitors by sharing that love and your knowledge of our region. Volunteers will receive training in how to use the resources of the facility to help the public find recreational opportunities and businesses and services that cater to their needs.

There are so many great things to do in our area -- activities that can spur the curiosity, excite the sense of adventure and provide for the recreation, rest and relaxation of our visitors. By sharing your knowledge and excitement about the Catskills, you will be an important part in helping to fulfill the purpose of the Catskill Interpretive Center. You will be helping to spread the word about what a truly wonderful resource the Catskill Park and its surrounding communities are for those who love nature and culture, excitement and tranquility. And with the proximity of the Catskills to millions of people, you will be helping to build a sustainable economy for our area.

So if you have the time to share your knowledge and love of the Catskills, please consider donating a day per month or a day per week, whatever you feel comfortable with doing, to help us staff this exciting new visitors’ center! You can do so by filling out the short volunteer application linked to below. And please be sure to note in the Comments box that you read about it here in this CMC notice. We'd love to know that our members are able and willing to be of service.

If you have questions, you may contact Wendell George, CMC VP and board member of the Friends of the Catskill Interpretive Center at[email protected] for more information.

Thank you!
