Save Trees; Stop the Constitution Pipeline Petition

Loggers have already begun cutting down trees in PA but if New York denies the 401 water quality certificate the pipeline cannot be built and the destruction of trees will stop. PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION NOW!!

Dear Governor Cuomo and Acting Commissioner Seggos,
You have the power to stop the proposed Constitution Pipeline that would carry fracked natural gas from Pennsylvania through our State and on to Canada and New England for potential shipment to more lucrative overseas markets. The pipeline would cross over 277 waterways in upstate New York threatening the health and safety of our communities.

As you know, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has jurisdiction over this inter-state pipeline and has conditionally approved it. Even before New York State has completed its evaluation of Constitution's impacts on our water, FERC has granted permission to cut down trees along the proposed route in Pennsylvania. But New York State has the power to stop this destruction! Under section 401 of the federal Clean Water Act, the pipeline cannot be built unless our Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) certifies that the project won't violate our state’s strict water quality standards.

I ask that you protect New York State's water and the health and safety of our residents by DENYING the water permits. It's time to put an end to the Constitution Pipeline. You have the power to do that. It's the right thing to do!  Sincerely,
