Join Us for a Launch of an Alternate Vision for Route 17

Join us for the launch of the ReThink Route 17 Alliance's new report, "Invest in Our Communities, Not a Wider Highway," at a virtual town hall on Tuesday, September 9th at 6:00 pm! Catskill Mountainkeeper and the ReThink Route 17 Alliance have been closely monitoring the New York State Department of Transportation's (NYSDOT's) proposal for Route 17, and it is abundantly clear that a highway expansion will NOT serve the needs of our communities. Because the state's plan for our region is so misguided, we're taking matters into our own hands. This new report presents an alternate vision for the Hudson Valley/Catskills region that is aligned with our communities' goals. We invite community members and members of the public to join us for an informative virtual town hall to learn more about this alternate vision and how you can get involved to stop this unnecessary highway widening and advocate for better transportation investments instead .

The launch of this new report marks an exciting and important shift in our campaign that will require all hands on deck. Instead of just calling out the flaws in the state's current proposal, we're providing examples of community-led investments that could positively transform health, economic and transportation outcomes across the Hudson Valley/Catskills region. We need YOU to join us in speaking up for our communities! Rather than wasting $1.4 billion unnecessarily widening Route 17 and creating new lanes, we are calling on our elected officials to halt all plans for expansion to instead prioritize investments in existing roads, bridges and other key transportation priorities that will benefit rather than burden our communities.

We hope you'll join us on the evening of September 9th to learn more about this report and our alternate vision at our virtual town hall! Please click here to register.
