It's important that we thank Governor Cuomo for his leadership on fracking and for standing up to the oil and gas industry. At the same time, we need to encourage our other elected officials to follow his example in transitioning away from dirty fossil fuels.
We have something big to celebrate, but there remains much work to be done, including stopping fracking-related infrastructure projects. In addition to attending the State of the State rally, we encourage everyone, particularly downstate residents, to attend an important public hearing in Queens on Wednesday, January 7. The hearing concerns a proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility off the coast of Long Island that would promote fracking and threaten our health and environment.
