Saying NO to New Pipelines: Coalition of environmental groups to hold press conference

and rally to Stop the Northeast Energy Direct Pipeline

Press conference and rally to Stop the Northeast Energy Direct Pipeline.  If approved, the pipeline will run from Pennsylvania to New Hampshire, paralleling the proposed route of the Constitution Pipeline in much of New York.

Speakers will include representatives of environmental groups, Mohawk leaders, civil rights activists and musicians Peter and Bethany Yarrow, and residents and landowners along the pipeline route.

WHY:  
The Northeast Energy Direct Pipeline is being proposed by the Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co., a subsidiary of Kinder Morgan, a company whose other infrastructure projects have been plagued by leaks and explosions.  Residents, landowners and community leaders from Schoharie County will join with environmental groups and activists from around New York to send a clear message to Kinder Morgan -- New Yorkers will not stand idly by while eminent domain is used to to line the pockets of gas companies, as they try to take land from families and jeopardize precious natural resources in order to export gas for corporate profit.
