Catskill Mountainkeeper has been busy this winter, laying out our advocacy work for 2020 and cooking up fun events for our region. We’ve released our 2020 Action Agenda, outlining our top policy priorities for the year, and we’re working with partners to secure funding for the Catskill Park and Region, planning for a snowshoe fun run and walk on the O&W Rail Trail, and spreading the word about the Climate Action Film Festival. Read on to learn more about each of these actions and events, and thanks so much for all you do to make our region such a great place to work, play, and live.

2020 Action Agenda

Earlier this month Catskill Mountainkeeper released our 2020 Action Agenda outlining our policy priorities for the year, including: protecting pollinators; permanently banning fracking; funding climate justice and climate solutions; passing a major environmental bond act; expanding and supporting regenerative agriculture; and supporting the Catskill Park and Region. These are the priorities we’ll be advocating for in Albany and throughout the state, and we’ll keep in touch with easy ways for you to act when it matters most.

Funding the Catskill Park and Region

On February 4th, the Mountainkeeper team was in the Capitol meeting with lawmakers and staffers, calling on the state to fund the 2020 Catskill Park Coalition priorities. We’re asking for increased resources to support public safety and park management, the Environmental Protection Fund’s commitments to enhance and protect Catskills, and support for our Catskills Communities.

We will step away from the doom and gloom we know too well and move to a place of inspiration, hope and ACTION. All proceeds to benefit New Yorkers for Clean Power and the Student Climate Coalition to support their 2020 climate advocacy efforts.
