Hidden Gems in the Bluestone Wild Forest

Learn about new geological and historical findings that could put the Bluestone Wild Forest on New York State's Historic Site Registry. Paul Rubin, an expert geologist in the Catskills, is actively conducting field work to document
archaeologic, geologic and hydrologic resources within New York State owned Bluestone Wild Forest in Ulster County, NY. This research has uncovered historic wagon roads and quarries, workshop areas, foundations, stone-walled pastures, a 163-year old farmstead, an abandoned railroad station, and unique geologic features that portray a comprehensive picture of the 19th and 20th century landscape in our region.

Paul will lead this informative presentation in person at the Kingston Unitarian Universalist Congregation; there will also be an online livestream available to watch for those who cannot attend in person. This event is free, but if you will be watching via livestream, you must register beforehand.
