Enjoy an important event to benefit Mountainkeeper's friends at the Laura Flanders Show on Sunday, October 16 from 4-7 pm at Catskill Provisions in the beautiful town of Callicoon, NY on the banks of the Delaware River.
The event will include a live taping with best-selling author and show host Laura Flanders in conversation with Bill McKibben--the noted environmentalist, author, journalist, and co-founder of 350.org and most recently, Third Act. Bill is a true movement luminary and an incredibly compelling speaker, and copies of his new book--The Flag, the Cross, and the Station Wagon: A Graying American Looks Back at His Suburban Boyhood and Wonders What the Hell Happened--will be available for signing.
The Laura Flanders Show is a storied weekly show, seen nationwide on the PBS network and heard on community radio (and as a podcast). Every week, Laura invites leading activists, artists, journalists, scholars, as well as impacted community members, into conversation about the strategies they’re using to build a better future. Perhaps you saw her interview with bestselling author Kim Stanley Robinson about his climate change novel, The Ministry of the Future.
For the past few years, Laura's national show has been taping in Sullivan County. (She even did an entire episode on the impact of Covid in the Catskills.) Many people aren't aware of this, and so this gathering will help welcome and celebrate the show's on-the-ground presence right here in the Catskills!
Sponsored by Mountainkeeper and Catskill Provisions, the event will also be lots of fun, with delicious drinks and food, and ample time to socialize and connect with other members of our community. Guests also will be able to take action on pressing issues like protecting pollinators and keeping the pristine Delaware River Basin safe from harmful industrial activities. And we'll be hearing from Albany-based singer/songwriter, Talina Asili. See the flyer below and attached for more info.
This will be a great opportunity for lively discussion and celebration in a beautiful setting, and I hope you'll think about supporting the event. You can buy tickets here.
