Join us for a summer celebration during Upstate Art Weekend. On Friday, July 18th, from 7-9pm, we'll light up our new office in Livingston Manor—and especially the porch! Enjoy drinks and light fare, music, excellent company, and a series of "firefly talks." (Yes, there will be beer from our next-door neighbor, Catskill Brewery.) Not required, but if you wish, bring drinks or snacks to share.
A "lightning talk" constrains a speech into about five minutes. Our version—a lightningbug or "firefly talk"—delivers an inspiring combination of art, science, and action in that short time. Hear from world-renowned author and musician Paul D. Miller (aka DJ Spooky); multimedia defender of democracy Meriel Melendrez Mees (author of Meriel To Her Countrymen; Mees pronounced mace); New Yorker contributing science writer Matt Hutson (author of a forthcoming book about diverse forms of intelligence); and our (musically talented) Program Manager, Taylor Jaffe.
Free event. Rain or shine. We're aiming for a small gathering of 20-40 people. Please help light up our porch!
