Urge Governor Cuomo to Stop Twin Pilgrim Pipelines

The twin Pilgrim Pipelines would run alongside the New York State Thruway carrying fracked oil south to refineries and refined products north. Governor Cuomo has the power to cut through the red tape and kill this project right now by denying Pilgrim the access it needs to our Thruway’s right-of-way. Please join us by calling the Governor’s office at 518-474-8390 and tell him to Stop the Pilgrim Pipelines!

Screen_Shot_2016-03-01_at_9.16.55_AM.pngIn December we alerted Mountainkeeper activists about the frightening plans for the Pilgrim Pipelines. Over one thousand Mountainkeeper activists sent messages to the Department of Environmental Conservation demanding that it take charge of the environmental review. Our voices were heard and the DEC has now taken a lead role in reviewing this dangerous, climate-destroying project.

But make no mistake: ultimate authority over the Pilgrim Pipelines rests with Governor Cuomo. He has the power to cut through the red tape and kill this project right now by denying Pilgrim the access it needs to our Thruway’s right-of-way.

And that’s exactly the message that Catskill Mountainkeeper and dozens of other groups are sending to the Governor this week – speaking with one voice as the Coalition Against Pilgrim Pipelines. But we need your participation to have the greatest impact.

We will be flooding the Governor’s phone line with messages urging him to stand up right now for our climate and for all the imperiled communities that oppose these pipelines.

Please join us by calling the Governor’s office at 518-474-8390 and tell him to Stop the Pilgrim Pipelines!

It will only take a few minutes of your time and will be incredibly effective. You can choose to either leave a voice mail message or talk to an assistant.

Here’s a suggested message: “Governor Cuomo, please stop the Pilgrim Pipelines by denying them use of the New York Thruway Authority’s right-of-way.  You’ve pledged to lead on climate action. Please do so by blocking this project that will make us more dependent on fossil fuels while threatening the Hudson River, our drinking water supplies, and our communities."

These proposed twin pipelines would put drinking water at risk for millions of New Yorkers, while threatening our climate, our land, and our communities.  It will be drilled under or through 232 waterways including the Hudson River, Catskill Creek, Ramapo, and other streams. Please call the Governor at 518-474-8390 and ask him to reject the Pilgrim Pipelines!
