Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Opportunity for change was the main topic at a conference in the Southern Tier on sustaining the economy.
Local business leaders joined the New York State Sustainable Business Council at Cornell Cooperative Extension.
They discussed ideas for more business localization, reducing waste and enhancing the areas in which we live.
“The Southern Tier has obviously had a lot of economic challenges over the last couple of decades, but there is a real opportunity here for clean tech investment, for renewable energy development and for local agriculture,” said Catskill Mountain Keeper Program Manager Betta Broad.
Solar power and the use of technology were among topics discussed.
“We’re advocating for a triple bottom line. Which is not only profit, but people and the planet, ” added Broad.
The group hopes to spread its message throughout the state.
