Volunteer Meeting--Tuesday, September 26 at 6:30p at Catskill Mountainkeeper in Livingston Manor--scroll down for more details!
Solarize Sullivan is Catskill Mountainkeeper's campaign to make it easier and more affordable to go solar. This fall, we're entering an exciting new chapter: we're running a shared solar campaign, bringing solar to everyone--even those who can't put panels on their roof.
Community shared solar (or just shared solar) makes solar possible for everyone. Nearby solar farms use sunlight to produce electricity, and users can either subscribe to buy energy for their home or apartment OR can purchase their own panels that stay at the farm. Energy is delivered the same way it always has been, from the electric provider. You’ll be credited right on your electric bill for your portion of the shared solar project.
In order to make this campaign a success, we need all types of volunteers. But mainly, we need YOU. We need people who will help us with a robust social media presence by posting to Facebook, twitter, and local online groups. We need help maintaining a visible presence in the community, ensuring we have volunteers at festivals, parties, and events. We need help stuffing envelopes and posting flyers. Whether you're known in your circle of friends as the local mayor, or you're more of a homebody who likes to work on a computer, we'll put your skills to work.
In this one hour meeting, we'll talk about the specifics of the campaign and how we'll be engaging volunteers. We'll do a bit of training so that you're comfortable talking about our campaign and what community solar is. And everyone will leave with an easy-to-implement job to make the campaign a success.
Don't hesitate to reach out to our campaign coordinator, Hailley Delisle, with any [email protected]. See you Tuesday night!!
