Rt 17 Virtual Town Hall

Route 17 is a vital lifeline for our communities which is why Catskill Mountainkeeper has been monitoring a $1.4 billion highway expansion project along Route 17 between Harriman and Wurtsboro and anchoring the ReThink Route 17 Alliance and campaign. As currently proposed by Governor Hochul and the New York State Department of Transportation, this project could widen the highway from two to three lanes along about 20 miles, creating a 6-lane highway in both directions. This would create more traffic, worsen air pollution and contradicts New York State's landmark Climate Act.

Mountainkeeper and our allies in the ReThink Route 17 Alliance believe that there is a better way to spend $1.4 billion in our region that supports our communities and makes transportation more accessible, reliable and affordable

Join us for an educational virtual town hall on Wednesday, April 2nd at 6 pm to learn more about the proposed project along Route 17, what's at stake for our communities, and how this campaign connects to a statewide movement for better transportation choices. We will also discuss ideas for how we can better spend $1.4 billion to increase transportation accessibility and affordability in our region. Please join us to make your voice heard!
