New Paltz marks Drive Electric Week with parade Sept. 15

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. >> The New Paltz Climate Action Coalition and New Paltz Climate Smart will celebrate National Drive Electric Week with a parade of pedestrians, bicycles, electric vehicles and e-bikes on Saturday, Sept. 15.

 

A Green Vendor Fair will follow from noon to 3 p.m. at New Paltz Village Hall, 25 Plattekill Ave., where attendees can test drive or ride in an electric car. Electric car vendors and green vendors will be on hand to speak informally with visitors. Ulster County Executive Michael Hein will speak at 1 p.m., along with county Legislator Kathy Nolan, D-Shandaken, senior research director for Catskill Mountainkeeper.

The parade will step off at 11 a.m. from New Paltz Middle School on Main Street and proceed to the Village Hall.

The parade and fair encourage walking and biking, showing electric cars and other forms of transportation that do not emit greenhouse gases.
