Sullivan O&W Rail Trail Alliance

THE O&W IN SULLIVAN

Build-out of the O&W Rail Trail in Sullivan County has been a decades-long effort, spearheaded by multiple municipalities, individuals and community-based organizations, all with a common goal of connecting communities along the former Ontario & Western railroad corridor and providing an important recreation and transportation asset to area residents and visitors alike.

Originally formed as an advisory committee to the Sullivan County Legislature, the Alliance has been has been operating as an independent network of municipal officials, civic organizations and trail advocates since 2020.  With support from the County government and its staff, the Alliance works collaboratively to 1) build out and connect existing segments of the trail spanning six towns and four villages; 2) promote use of the trail by residents and visitors; and 3) coordinate trail maintenance & volunteer engagement.  Their vision is to create a continuous recreational trail spanning over 30 miles from Summitville to Livingston Manor, NY. Click here to visit the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail Alliance website.
