Lately, President Obama has been making headlines stressing the importance of addressing climate change. But his support for fracking completely undermines this message.  Not only does fracking cause widespread water contamination, dangerous air pollution, and terrible health and community impacts, but it is a major contributor to global warming. Tell Obama to ban fracking now!...

This Monday, May 12th, join Catskill Mountainkeeper in Albany for the Fracking Lobby Day.  This legislative session there are five fracking bills under review by New York State legislators and we need you to tell your elected representatives that we want them to support bills to keep fracking and fracking waste out of New York State. Just last week, a hazardous waste bill that would have eliminated the import of fracking waste from out-of-state operations failed to make it out of committee for a full Senate vote by just ONE vote! We can’t let this happen again...  

Please attend the nearest hearing and also submit written comments. In February, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) released the draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the proposed Constitution pipeline, which would run across 120 plus miles of the western side of the Catskills from Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania to Schoharie County, New York. Time is running out on the comment period – which ends April 7^th– and the only public hearings are this week. Hearing Schedule: Monday, March 31, 7:00 pm. VOTE 'NO' on Propositions 1 and 5

Today is election day – a day where we can use our American right to get out and vote for the people and issues that are important to us and represent our vision for our communities and country.

For New York State voters, there are some important referendums up on the ballot, which have the potential to dramatically shift the quality of life for New Yorkers, and set dangerous precedents for the way we preserve and protect our land.

This week is a very important moment for us to tell President Obama in person the truth about fracking – that it can’t be done safely, it poisons water and people, and it spells disaster for the climate. Unfortunately, President Obama has turned a blind eye to the science on fracking and the thousands of victims across the country. Now, President Obama is doing a two-day bus tour through upstate New York, and we’re organizing to rally outside of his events to demand no fracking in New York, the Delaware River Watershed, or anywhere in America. This is a really important opportunity to stand up for the people of Wyoming, Texas, Pennsylvania and all the people in the U.S. who have had their air, their water and their very lives fouled by the oil and gas industry.  Please do everything you can to join us in Binghamton! If the stakes weren’t so high, the way that New York State is conducting its review of fracking's environmental and health impacts would be laughable. Again and again the Governor and the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) have put the cart before the horse and turned what should be a straightforward, science-based process into a convoluted debacle. It’s hard to explain how the DEC could issue the regulations that would govern fracking BEFORE they finished their Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Statement, the in depth document they have been working on for the last several years....
