Renewable NY

Renewable energy technologies, like solar, wind and geothermal generate electricity with a minimum of pollution and carbon emissions and have the potential to significantly reduce our reliance on natural gas, coal and other fossil fuels.  Renewable energy technologies are clean, affordable, available domestically and the supply is effectively infinite.   They turn the ever-present energy around us into usable forms without producing pollution or global warming emissions.

Catskill Mountainkeeper has launched “Renewable NY” to facilitate our regions’ changeover from fossil fuels to renewable energy so that we can mitigate the disastrous effects of climate change such as catastrophic storms, dangers to our food and water supply, and threats to our health, which have already started to affect us.

The goals of Renewable NY are to:

  • educate New Yorkers about how a change to renewable fuels is critical to combat the rising temperatures on our warming planet
  • connect people and businesses with renewable energy solutions
  • develop a policy platform for renewable energy that can be advanced at the legislative level

We are currently working on creating an online resource that will aggregate information on available renewable energy technologies in our region.  We are also building partnerships with local non-profits, state agencies and renewable energy companies to organize educational forums to promote renewable energy.  We will make all of our research and event notifications available on this website.
