BIOCHAR INTENSIVE July 28 -29, 2012 with Hugh McLaughlin and Doug Clayton Biochar is a name for charcoal when it is used as a soil amendment and carbon sequestration agent. Its use is inspired by the Terra Preta of the Amazon Basin where islands of rich, fertile soils were created by indigenous people from cooking fires and kitchen middens.
