FALL GARDENING SEMINAR

How to wrap up the season and prepare your garden for next year

[FERNDALE] – Sullivan Renaissance will hold a fall gardening seminar on Wednesday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the CVI Building in Ferndale. The program will look at how gardeners can prepare for the winter while getting a jump start on the next growing season.

“Hope springs eternal and so can your gardens, if you plan now for next spring’s blooms,” said Vivian Multari-Ginsberg, the Sullivan Renaissance Community Liaison and Horticulturalist, who will lead the seminar. “Actually, autumn is a very good time to give your garden some attention.”

Multari-Ginsberg is an avid gardener with over 25 years of horticulture and landscaping experience in New York and Connecticut. She studied at the New York Botanical Garden and Master Gardener Program in Connecticut. She has always had organic vegetable gardens. In August she was recognized by the Landfield Avenue Synagogue for her landscaping assistance with its Renaissance project this year.

The seminar will address:

* Protecting and winterizing perennial beds
* Planting bulbs, shrubs & trees
* Mulching, pruning and composting
* Care and repair for the lawn

Everyone is welcome to attend. Those interested in learning more about Sullivan Renaissance are also invited. Refreshments will be available. Please RSVP by October 13.

Sullivan Renaissance is a beautification and community development program principally funded by the Gerry Foundation. Additional funding has been secured by NYS Senator John J. Bonacic and Assemblywoman Aileen M. Gunther.
