We're so pleased with the wonderful news that last night the New York State Assembly extended the Empire State Film Production Tax Credit Program to the Catskills and Hudson Valley, a move that will encourage film production in our region and foster economic growth. The Senate already passed this bill earlier this year, and it is now awaiting the Governor’s signature.
The hamlets in Sullivan, Ulster, and Orange Counties deserve access to the Empire State Film Production Tax Credit. These communities boast an endless number of unspoiled locations to choose from to get the perfect shot, and they would all benefit from the increased tourism revenue. From the pre- to post-production credits this program offers, it will make our area an even better choice for filmmakers.
Mountainkeeper believes that a healthy economy is a diverse economy that embraces, but doesn’t exploit, our natural resources. We believe increased film production will do just that.
Now we only need Governor Cuomo to sign this bill into law. Please take a minute to call Governor Cuomo at (518) 474-8390. You can leave a message by pressing 2; ask him to approve the expansion of the Empire State Film Production Tax Credit Program -- our counties deserve this opportunity.
And if you can, please take a few more minutes to call two Catskill area legislators who were truly instrumental in getting this legislation introduced and passed, Asemblywoman Aileen M. Gunther (845) 794-5807 and New York State Senator George A. Amedore (845) 331-3810 . They really deserve thanks for their work and will appreciate hearing from you.
