As a continuation of the County Farmland Protection Plan update, Sullivan County is seeking input from farmers and agri-service businesses. All farmers are invited to attend a Farmer Focus group meeting to provide input on the state of agriculture within the County. The meeting will be held the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County on Wednesday, March 12th, from 6:30p.m.-8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
The focus group discussion and the survey results will be used in developing an approach to preserving the farming character and economy of the area. Nan Stolzenburg of Community Planning and Environmental Associates from Berne, NY will lead discussions about the strengths and constraints of agriculture in these towns and will explore with participants the opportunities for future agricultural activities. All farmers are encouraged to participate in the discussion and share their ideas of what the role of agriculture should be in the future.
