December 17,2016--The following statement is attributable to Ramsay Adams, Executive Director of Catskill Mountainkeeper
"Two years ago today, Governor Cuomo made the historic decision to stand up to the gas and oil industry and ban fracking in New York. Our air, water, and communities are healthier as a result. Today we remain vigilant, fighting against an industry that would imperil our way of life for its own profit. Catskill Mountainkeeper and our allies are fighting gas pipelines proposed to criss-cross our state, bomb trains filled with dangerous and toxic oil that run through our neighborhoods and downtowns, tankers that want license to turn the Hudson River into a parking garage, and compressor stations that spew fumes endangering the health of everyone nearby. Thank you, Governor Cuomo for that courageous action in 2014 and to the hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers who fought to prevent fracking--we look forward to beating back the industry again, and are honored to call you partners in this work."
